Visual Workplace House
The Visual Workplace House is a stacked set of methods, tools, and visual outcomes that, when systematically applied, convert the physical work environment into a visual landscape of work.
These methods or technologies represent a progression—a continuum of applied knowledge—that groups into six major categories of visual function (see below). Four of these, in turn, further divide into visual sub-methodologies, resulting in ten visual functions—or, as Dr. Galsworth terms them: The Ten Doorways. |
Read ladder-like from the bottom up, each level or category represents a distinct operational purpose. These build one on the other until a fully-functioning visual work environment is achieved.
Though many of these names may be familiar, what is new is to think of them as a single line of logic—an integrated framework that shares a common purpose: to share vital information about the task at hand, without speaking a word. In short, to let the workplace speak.
